Ricardo A. González R. M.Ps.S.I.
Graduate Member of the Psychological Society of Ireland M-15947
Ricardo aims to offer clients a supportive and non-judgemental space in which difficulties can be explored with curiosity and compassion. His clinical approach is warm, collaborative and evidence-based, with an emphasis on helping clients understand the patterns behind their difficulties and develop practical, meaningful strategies for change. He takes time to explain what is happening and why, and most importantly, treats each set of problems or results as something belonging to a person with a life around it. He works in English and Spanish.
Ricardo is a psychology graduate, with an undergraduate pathway focus in Health Psychology from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Working under clinical supervision, his approach draws primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He has completed specialist theoretical training with the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression and personality-related difficulties.
He also has a strong academic foundation in clinical psychology, having completed more than two years of intensive postgraduate-level preparation for the Spanish PIR clinical psychology examination. This involved comprehensive, self-directed and specialized training preparation, developing extensive theoretical knowledge of psychopathology, clinical assessment, diagnostic frameworks and evidence-based psychological interventions.
Ricardo is also part of Hazelton’s assessment team, contributing to cognitive and psychological assessments of adults and children referred with suspected ADHD. His work includes the administration of standardised cognitive, academic, behavioural and personality measures, including the WAIS, WISC and WIAT, as well as instruments such as the BRIEF, PAI, CBRS, Conners 4, CPT-3 and TOVA.
