Aideen Stack


Aideen Stack is a psychologist specialising in Health Psychology, with experience in providing evidence – based therapeutic assessment and intervention to adolescents and adults.

Aideen has a PgDip in Health Psychology (clinically based) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a MSc in Psychology (Health) from the University of Leiden. She completed her
BA in Applied Psychology at University College Cork.

Aideen has worked as a psychologist in Primary Mental Health services, and a Cancer Support Service in New Zealand. During Aideen’s time practicing as a Psychologist, she has worked with individuals who present with a variety of mental health difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ADHD and more.

Specific to the speciality of Health Psychology, Aideen has worked extensively with individuals who have physical health conditions such diabetes, chronic pain, gut conditions (IBS, IBD), Parkinson’s disease, cancer, and more. Aideen has skills and experience in identifying and supporting mental health difficulties that may contribute to health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. Aideen emphasises empowerment – focusing on what someone ‘can do’, instead of focusing on the burden of one’s diagnosis.

  Aideen is trained and skilled in therapeutic interventions Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness – Based practice and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Skills. Aideen is also trained in Self – Management for Chronic Illness, which teaches individuals skills to cope with living life with illness.

Aideen has worked with individuals from many different backgrounds, always being respectful of the individual’s lived experience.
  Aideen is an empathetic and person – centred therapist with a passionate  for providing a trauma – sensitive and transdiagnostic approach to her therapeutic work.

Aideen is also passionate about psychological research, having worked on a number of research projects over the last number of years. Her published research includes a paper on Psychedelic – Assisted Therapy in Mental Health presentations in Cancer Patients.
